Delphi wins contract to advise a blue-chip UK company on the setting up a technology driven bank, www.ukstreetbank.co.uk
This will not be yet another icannotthinkofasilliernameforabank branded tired old bank seeking a temporary @ sign stockmarket halo. Such "internet only" banks will be dinosaurs by the second half of the "zeroes", the first decade of the new century.
Warren Edwardes,
Delphi Risk Management's Chief Executive, said:
"In a few years time
we will no more discuss e-banking than we now describe using the
telephone in banking as t-banking or the use of the fax as f-banking
or the postal system as p-banking. Internet banking and even mobile
phone banking simply uses current technology. The ukstreetbank
operation will look beyond internet banking and seek to continually
commission and develop state of the art communication technology
to provide innovative but relevant banking services with a human
touch. It will not relaunch itself every few years under an ever
sillier name."
But technology for its own sake
will not win customers without meaningful customer-driven product.
Product innovation will be by
delphi risk
management
Product differentiation ideas will include:
(1) compliance with the mission of no small print.
(2) a fixed rate mortgage with no early repayment penalty, yet a lower than normal APR AND a lower headline rate
(3) an innovative portable stakeholder pension product.
